Features
Just like any of the other online video game rental services, there are no late fees or due dates, along with free shipping. One nice feature Gamerang offers is how long it will take for a game in your queue to be available for shipping. Gamers will also enjoy the Game Release Calendar. A one year subscription to Wired magazine is included with any new membership plan!
Plans
Gamerang.com offers 4 different plans. The first and most basic being one game out at a time for only $17.95 per month. The next step up is the two games out at a time plan for $24.95 per month. After that, three games out at a time for $49.95 per month plus a $75.00 refundable deposit (more on that later). 4 games out at a time for $59.95 per month plus a $100.00 refundable deposit is the fourth option. These plans are quite comparable to GameFly.com, with the exception of having a 3 and 4 games out at a time option.
Shipping
With 4 shipping centers across the U.S., you should expect very quick shipping times, 1-4 days. The centers are located in Santa Ana CA, Purcell OK, Englewood NJ and Crystal MN. These guys have one of the quickest turn-around times available.
Pros
Everything. Very competitive prices as well as a great selection of plans. Their website is pleasant to look at and easy to navigate. Turn-around times are some of the best in the business, since their shipping centers are spread throughout the entire U.S. Gamerang also has one of the best selections with over 4,000 titles available. They also offer “Keep’m” feature for a select number of games. This allows you to purchase the game you already have rented.
Cons
There are no instructions or manuals included with the games. Gamerang is the only service I’ve seen that requires a deposit. While this only applies to the 3-out and 4-out plans, it is an additional cost. You will get a refund when/if you cancel your membership, as long as you send back any games you have out within 7 days. I also couldn’t find any parental controls.
